Speck Electronics ASC-T EQ w/Transformer Output

The main difference between the ASC and the ASC-T is that the ASC-T has the choice of a transformer or transformerless output where with the ASC you only have transformerless output. There is a distinct sonic difference between going through the transformer and going transformerless... with the ASC-T you get the choice of two sonic output differences.

Speck Electronics ASC-T EQ features
The Model ASC-T is a professional single channel 4 band equalizer in a 1/2 rack format. It is simple, useful and it delivers the high quality and specifications found in all Speck Electronics gear. The Speck Model ASC-T is reminiscent of vintage equalizers, revered for their dynamic range and musical performance.

This compact 4 band parametric equalizer has 12 controls for equalization adjustment that covers the audio spectrum from a low 20Hz all the way up to 25kHz. There is a -12/+6 dB gain control that handles the level variations when patching between balanced and unbalanced gear. A bypass switch silently removes the equalizer from the audio path.

Connect the ASC-T to virtually any line level source: balanced, unbalanced, or mixer inserts. The Model ASC-T has high headroom that will handle balanced signals up to +28dBu.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TRANSFORMER AND NON-TRANSFORMER OUTPUT?

The ASC-T offers a transformer balanced output. Under normal operating conditions, both versions (the other being the Speck ASC) sound about the same. The Jensen transformer does add a subtle texture to the overall sound. It sounds different than the active-balanced output (the sonic difference is kinda hard to describe).

Both outputs have a "clean & clear" sound. Although, when the transformer version is pushed to its maximum output limits, the transformer will exhibit a slight, almost soft distortion at low frequencies. That's the transformer sound!

The ASC-T features both transformer and non transformer balanced outputs. The "TRS" output can be run either balanced or unbalanced... and can be used simultaneously to avoid DAW latency if desired.
