When the Great River MP-2NV was first conceived the idea was to build a companion equalizer that could work in conjunction with the MP-2NV or as a stand alone unit. The EQ-2NV features a different line input transformer than the pre-amp which has a good amount of "bite" for tracking applications [without sounding harsh or thin] and a very high headroom transformerless output amplifier. The mid bands of the EQ are inductor based [like the Neve tm 1081-1083 modules], and 3 selectable positions for "Q" [bandwidth control]. The top and bottom bands feature selection between "peak/dip" and "shelf" and there is a very handy High Pass Filter. Whether used alone or hanging from the insert point of the Great River mic pre the EQ-2NV is without question an "EQ to envy".
Great River EQ-2NV features
The equalizer is specifically designed to work with the NV series microphone preamplifiers' patch loop, for significantly greater headroom at one end, a lower overall noise floor, and overall greater musicality. When connected via the MP-2NV's patchpoint, the microphone and DI inputs are fully functional, as well as the level control, metering and "big iron" of the MP-2NV's output amplifier. The equalizer also has a dis-crete class A balanced output stage, which allows it to function as a complete stand-alone device. It is available in single or dual channel models.
